**An explicit estimate of how sure we are of our own position, published next to that position and accompanied by the condition under which we would revise it.**

People need the confidence level in order to see where the established ends and our supposition begins.

Agents need it too. They are increasingly the intermediary between our text and its reader, and an agent that cannot tell our hypothesis from our fact restates us wrongly.

It is an editorial judgement about a specific conclusion, not a measured probability. We publish the number together with a verbal equivalent, because a number on its own reads as false precision.
