Epistemic humility
The stance on which «we do not know this yet» carries positive intellectual value: it marks the boundary of knowledge and turns it into a research programme.
Synchronism is particularly interested in areas where public confidence substantially exceeds the quality of available knowledge.
In practice this obliges us to publish confidence levels, to name the condition under which we would change a position, and to mark our own weak points on the very pages where we assert something. It looks disadvantageous; for a movement that claims the quality of knowing as its subject, any other behaviour would be self-refuting.
