Metasystem of progress
A hypothetical diagnostic infrastructure that continuously sees civilisation as a whole, identifies bottlenecks, and redirects people and resources towards them.
Its functions: diagnosing the state of fields of knowledge, finding bottlenecks, creating new research areas at the intersections of disciplines, redistributing funding, building career paths, and checking its own results.
This is the most ambitious and most distant part of the synchronist programme. At the present stage it is a description of a goal, not a project: we have neither a measurement methodology nor institutions.
